Standards
Appraised diamonds, colored stones, and pearls are professionally graded upon Gemological Institute of America (GIA) grading standards. The appraisal report, research, and development use Registered Master Valuer and National Association of Jewelry Appraisers (NAJA) standards. Your jewelry appraisal is always executed according to the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) and U.S. FTC guidelines. Shelly M. Devine became certified in USPAP in 2025, ensuring each report meets the most current ethical and legal appraisal standards. All Devine & Co. appraisal reports are recognized by the IRS and courts nationwide.
Devine & Co. declares that traditional appraisal services do not extend to items and custom orders acquired through our establishment. This practice aligns with the ethical standards of the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers (NAJA).
For items obtained through Devine & Co., a disclaimer is included in the certification section of the appraisal, noting that the item was sold by Devine & Co. and still satisfies appraisal requirements as permitted and trained under USPAP guidelines. Clients with items not purchased from Devine & Co. are advised to follow standard industry practices for appraisals related to insurance coverage, fair market value, and other relevant purposes.
